Survivor Casting Call June 28th At the Rivers Casino | Outwit, Outplay, Outlast in Pittsburgh!

CBS' hit-show "Survivor" will be holding a casting call in Pittsburgh Tuesday, June 28th at the Rivers Casino. Pittsburgh has been pretty successful in finding its fair share of "survivors" for the show, including Amber and Jenna, and the next $1 million winner could easily be found in the city this time around.

From 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Rivers Casino in the back of the Wheelhouse, auditions will be held for those 21 and over. If you are a Rivers Edge Players Club Member, auditions begin at 3:00pm. Contestants must be US citizens, at least 18 years old, and in "excellent physical and mental health." (Those under 21 must audition outside the Wheelhouse).

CBS Pittsburgh.

For the casting call, those applying will have just one minute to explain on videotape why he/she has what it takes to be on the show. A video release form must be signed and can be downloaded on CBS Pittsburgh's website. As an added bonus, Rupert - a "Survivor" favorite - will be making an appearance at the casting call. On Saturday, June 25th, Walnut Street in Shadyside will be shut down for Pittsburgh's Jam on Walnut. Benefiting The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Jam on Walnut is a block party from 7:00pm to 11:00pm featuring performances from local bands, opportunities to raise money for a great cause, chances to win fabulous prize packages, and, of course, the ability to enjoy the sites and sounds of Walnut Street - Pittsburgh's cultural hotspot.

Jam on Walnut will occur on three dates this summer, with different bands to check out each time. This Saturday, June 25, come check out Donora and Bill Deasy.

Ryan Reynolds' "Green Lantern" was #1 at the Box-Office for Father's Day weekend, earning $52.7 million. But with expectations of at least the mid-$50 million range, and upwards of $60 to $70 million if the 3D drew viewers in, the film's opening isn't as thrilling as it could have been.

Maybe it's "Green Lantern's" not-so-great reviews (it currently has a 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes) or the uneven marketing campaign, but in comparison to "Thor," another recent superhero film's opening weekend of $65.7 million, "Green Lantern" undeniably came up short.

Pittsburgh's own The Clarks will celebrate their 25th anniversary on June 25th at Stage AE, and you won't want to miss it. In celebration of 25 years of Rock and Roll, The Clarks will be joined by DVE's Jim Krenn as Emcee of the night and The Infamous Dicks as the Opening Act. The Infamous Dicks, a.k.a. The Dick Clarks, feature Scott Blasey, Rob James, Greg Joseph and Ryan Hertweck. Doors open at 6:30pm for the outdoor show.

In anticipation of the June 25th Stage AE show, The Clarks will be appearing at Primanti Brothers locations throughout Pittsburgh. These "Clarks Pop-Up Parties" will feature one member of the band visiting a different Primanti's location throughout the area during happy hour (4:00pm to 6:00pm)...

June 10th Weekend Box-Office Finds the Mysterious "Super 8" In First Place | "X-Men" and "The Hangover 2" Still Hold Strong

#1 in June 10's Weekend's Box-Office had nothing to do with a sequel, prequel, or a remake. Instead, it was the sense of mystery surrounding "Super 8" that may have contributed to its opening in first place: bringing in $37 million this weekend, and $38 million overall (including Thursday night sneak peeks).

Whether this is seen as a successful opening or not, you have to give credit to filmmakers JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg for presenting the film in their own way: what with Abrams' insistence on never exposing the "Super 8" creature to audiences and the aura of mystery that has surrounded the film since the beginning.

A new Cirque du Soleil show is coming to Pittsburgh October 12th through 16th and tickets are available beginning today. The show - Quidam - revolves around the young character of Zoe and her "escape into a world of imagination."

Jimmy Buffett will be opening the Margaritaville Casino in Las Vegas, and, according to a press release from the Flamingo Las Vegas and Margaritaville, "It's not just a casino, it's a state of mind." With 15,000 square feet to offer, the Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo will offer 22 gaming tables, 220 slot machines and the 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar as the centerpiece. Buffett currently has a Margaritaville restaurant in Vegas and a chain of bar/restaurants around the world that includes one hotel. No exact date has been set for the grand opening.

Pittsburgh Steeler Ryan Clark will be a part of the "Future All-Star Boot Camp," beginning Saturday, June 18. Presented by Big Splat Graphics & Tee-Berries, the event will be held at Southpointe Fieldhouse in Canonsburg, PA and is open to all boys, girls, sports and skill levels ages 12-18 in Western PA.

The boot camp was created to specifically "help attendees develop proper health, nutrition and active lifestyles that are needed in today's teens. The event is intended to teach, inspire and motivate kids in a way that will transform them to continue the practices that they learn in their everyday life." A portion of the proceeds from the "Future All-Star Boot Camp" will benefit The Western PA Sickle Cell Association.

Summer shows aren't necessarily everyone's favorite thing, but with new episodes of "True Blood," "Breaking Bad" and a number of other series returning, summer TV doesn't have to be boring. After shattering records last weekend, (2011's Memorial Weekend's Box-Office set the record for the biggest Memorial Weekend Box-Office ever, making $275 million overall), "The Hangover Part II," which earned $135 million last weekend alone (making it the biggest 3-day weekend comedy debut ever), has been overtaken by "X-Men: First Class."

Grossing $56 million in its debut weekend, "X-Men: First Class" is now #1, knocking "The Hangover Part II" to #2, which earned another $32.4 million, bringing its national total to $187 million. Though "X-Men: First Class" managed to beat out its competition, it still "under-performed." The film is actually the "lowest opening of a Marvel-branded movie in a long time," particularly after not meeting it's $60 million opening expectation.

The 2011 Movie Awards, hosted by Jason Sudeikis, were held last night, June 5 in Los Angeles. The big winners of the night were (unsurprisingly) The Twilight bunch, particularly Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who took home Best Movie, Best Kiss, Best Male Performance, Best Female Performance, and Best Fight.

Reese Witherspoon took home "the biggest award of night:" the MTV Generation Award. And newcomer Chloë Grace Moretz walked away with two awards of her own: Best Breakout Star and Biggest Badass Star. The night was topped off by performances by the Foo Fighters and Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz.
