This week, Hersch outlines the first Waynesburg Flashlight Drags of 2011, held on Father’s Day, in which hundred of racers and thousands of spectators attended. Check out a glimpse of the article from TalkHotRods.com:
“We had three classes this week, Top Tuners, Super Street, and Big Dog. I was also honored to be able top pick the car that I thought best represented the Flashlight Drags. Here are the winners for the 2011 Father’s Day Celebration of the Flashlight Drags in Waynesburg:
Top Tuner was Justin Early in his 1990 Talon. Justin is from Uniontown and put on an amazing show all day with his hot rod that took on all the competition including multiple Top Tuner winner Dave Alviso.
In Super Street, it was Rick Christy from Amity, PA. With his 440 ci 2002 Pontiac Firebird, Rick had his hands full all day with some really fast cars trying to outrun him. In the end Rick took home the hand-made “Turk” trophy for Super Street.
It just wouldn’t be the Flashlight Drags without the Big Dogs. Take a look (in the Garage) at the cars in all the classes but especially the Top Dogs to see how serious these guys are. When the smoke cleared from the burnouts, we watched Mike Baker from Kennerdale, PA take the win in his brand new, never raced, 1969 Camaro with a 565 ci motor.

In another Talk Hot Rods story, Hersch conducts an interview podcast update with sponsors Hahn & Woodward.
“Hahn & Woodward Automotive Restorations in Harmony, PA are busy getting cars ready for the summer season. They are so busy, it’s hard to get them to slow down for an interview. I was lucky enough to drag Paul Vorbach from his work and sit down for an update on the many projects they have in progress.
Please take a look at the photos in the Garage as you listen to the podcast. The HRG is very close to being done and the Mercedes 300 SL’s both Gullwings and roadster are really taking shape. There is also a photo of their new trailer which contains their next project. I can’t tell you what it is yet but you will be floored when you find out.”
