Some surprises occurred at last night’s Grammy Awards, particularly with Esperanza Spalding taking home Best New Artist, instead of shoo-in Justin Bieber. Lady Gaga, though winning two awards, didn’t walk away with as many as predicted, what with the huge year she just experienced. And Eminem, with ten nominations to his name, left with just two Grammys in hand. Instead, Lady Antebellum and Arcade Fire ruled the night.

Lady Antebellum went home with Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Need You Now,” as well as Country Album of the Year, Best Country Song of the Year, and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. And Arcade Fire took the top honor of the night with Album of the Year.

Some other major moments from the Grammys 2011:

- The show begins with the Aretha Franklin tribute.
- Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”

- Katy Perry performs while simultaneously showing clips of her wedding to Russell Brand.
- My favorite performance: Mumford & Sons’s “The Cave,” followed by the Avett Brothers’ "Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promise," and Bob Dylan's “Maggie’s Farm” backed by both bands. I even liked the awkwardness of mikes being set-up and organized mid-performance.

- Muse’s “Uprising.”
- Cee Lo Green is joined by Gwyneth Paltrow to perform “Forget You,” surrounded by Muppets.

- Bruno Mars, B.O.B, and Janelle Monae.
- Justin Bieber and Usher.
- Drake and Rhianna.
- Eminem, Rhianna, and Dr. Dre perform “Love the Way You Lie.”
