The Pittsburgh Steelers and "The Power of 7" | Kind of Spooky

Former Pittsburgh Steelers lineman and now broadcaster Craig Wolfley unearths the power of the number "7" and the uncanny connection to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger.

BEFORE the Ravens @ Steelers Playoff Game..
The Power Of 7

In the immortal words of Gandalph the Grey from Lord of the Rings, “And so it begins.”

The Steelers take to Heinz Field tomorrow to begin their run at another Super Bowl. In facing the Ravens they square off against a team that is such a mirror image of themselves that when they shave in the morning (except for Brett Keisel and his ZZ top beard) they might see somebody from the other team staring back at them in that mirror.

Rashard Mendenhall or is that Ray Rice trimming the facial hair? Derrick Mason, Anquan Boldin and TJ Houshmanzadeh getting a trim or was that Hines Ward, Mike Wallace and Manny Sanders? Lawrence Timmons and James Farrior nicking themselves with a dull razor or is it Jameel McClain and Ray Lewis dabbing the cut with a little TP?

Who might see who while brushing their teeth, Todd Heap or Heath Miller?

Lamar Woodley and James Harrison might gargle and spit only to see Terrell Suggs and Jarrett Johnson. Ed Reed and Troy, Dawan Landry and Ryan Clark.

After combing his hair in front of the mirror, might Haloti Ngata see Casey Hampton?

These teams are so evenly matched that if you add up the score from the past 17 games the totals are 302 to 302.

There’s only one man that stands separate from his counterpart in the mirror.

Ben Roethlisberger.

Is their any magic in that if #7 wins tomorrow, it will be the 7th time #7 has quarterbacked the Steelers to victory over the Ravens in his last 7 starts against the “Dirty Birds” while in the hunt for the Steelers 7th Lombardi in his 7th year in the league?

oooh…where’s my Terrible Towel?

AFTER the Ravens @ Steelers Playoff Game..
Adding To The Power of 7

I can’t help myself but play Mr. Obvious here and point out that the Steelers beat the Ravens by…c’mon…you know it, by “7.”

Guess how many AFC title games the Steelers have lost since the AFL-NFL merger? Yep…7 is the number. You know how many AFC Championships they’ve won? Right again, 7.

Since the dynasty of the 70′s, culminating with the Steelers beating the Oilers at Three Rivers from the ’79 season, from that point forward the Steelers have hosted, including the upcoming game against the Jets…oooh yeah, it’s a 7!

Thank you Mr. Gregory Iskat for adding to the power of 7.

Sheesh…what do you think Myron Cope would’ve said?

Big Ben wears #7

Ben is in his 7th year in the NFL

This is the Steelers 77th year in the league.

This will be the Steelers 7th Super Bowl.

If you add the numbers of Troy Polamalus jersey (4+3) you get 7.

Troy had 7 interceptions this year

Hines Ward is 34 (3+4=7)

Roethlisberger has 14 letters 2x7=14.

Big Ben's favorite receiver Mike Wallace wears 17
I Support Big Ben's chance to make it right. Big Ben threw 17 Td's this year. When Ben throws 17 TD's we have gone to the Super Bowl twice and the AFC game once.

Big Ben also has 7 TD's in the 4th quarter (Ben has another stat with 7 in it but I didn't add it because its one that that isn't very good and I don't want to jinx him).

The Steelers 7th trip to the postseason this decade (2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010).

If you subtract Harrison's number 9-2 you get 7.

Tomlin is one of only seven coaches in league history to win a Super Bowl within his first two seasons as an NFL head coach.

Here we go Steelers, here we go is 7 words

Casey Hampton has 7 total tackles in the 2nd half

Charlie Batch wears 16. If you add 1+6 is 7.

Emmanual Sanders has 7 first downs in the 4th quarter.

Dick LeBeau was inducted into the hall of fame on Aug 7, 2010.

There are 7 defensive linemen on the team Brett Kiesel, Casey Hampton, Aaron smith, Ziggy Hood, Chris Hoke, Steve McClendon and Nick Eason.

Kevin Colbert has 7 letters in his last name.

There are more. You can add to it, but only 7 at a time.
