TIME Magazine has named their person of the year for 2010: Mark Zuckerberg. If the name at first doesn't ring a bell, then simply stating Facebook should help. Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook.com, which is up to 550 million members, created a social network that has become an integral part of daily human life. With a growth rate of 700,000 people per day and one out of every 12 people already having an account, it's no surprise that Facebook has turned Zuckerberg into a billionaire.

Mark Zuckerberg Facebook Person of the Year

The widely held belief that Zuckerberg is strictly awkward is argued in this article, written by Lev Grossman, instead portraying him as warm, modest, far from alienated. Grossman notes that, with Facebook, "Zuckerberg just wanted people to be themselves." If this isn't intriguing enough, let's not forget that "The Social Network," the movie based on Zuckerberg and his founding of the website in 2004, has just been nominated for six Golden Globes. Person of the Year at only 26 years old - quite an achievement, and this seems to just be the beginning for the person who wants to build his social network into something even bigger and better.
