"Lost" The Final Season - "Lighthouse"
Some quick things out of the gate before turning you loose on the links. This is not new info but to me I had actually forgotten this since pushing the button and resetting it to 108 in the hatch are so in the past. The numbers and the mystery are heavily in play now. Jacob sent Hurley to the lighthouse and told him to set the dial to 108 degrees. We never get to see that happen but we are reminded that adding up the mysterious numbers attached to Lost, Hurley and now many of the cast that these numbers total up to 108. (4,8,15,16,23,42 = 108)
We also know that this show is filled with themes of fate and good vs evil, black vs white, dark side vs bright side, god vs the devil. Once this is over it would be a great set of novels to own and place on your bookshelf as this has been and continues to be a fantastic tale. The producers should win a lifetime achievement award for presenting such a total package not just a show with mystery that you watch then chat about briefly then watch again next week. This show is an addiction that creates a craving for more information, water cooler talk and clues. You watch this show and continue to talk and surf the net looking for more. The viewer is never full, always hungry. Especially the subtle placement of so many clues and easter eggs in every episode is brilliant as it keeps the pulse beating until the next episode. So many times books being read by a character give a way a theme or clue, posters on a wall, numbers on a door, a house address and so-on. Just great stuff and great manipulation of giving just enough but also maybe giving a little info to swerve the viewer. Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have done a great job of feeding its hungry viewers with a steady diet of information.
Six season ago we start off thinking this is a show about passengers that are LOST on an Island and now we know that they are LOST in their lives, in their faith and in their way. Love it!
Now back to the lighthouse and how angered I am that we did not get to see what name or what vision in the mirror 108 presented. I am sure we will find out but I was yelling at the screen that common instinct would be that Hurley would want to see if his name is on the dial and what number attached to it. You would think Hurley would want to see what vision his mirror reflected. Hurley is walking around like he is on Valium. Yes, Jack was being forceful but It just felt empty that even Jack would not at least want to know what happened when turned to 108. Jack is smart and that could be a huge clue to him. At least look at 108 then get pissed and smash the mirror. That scene was just missing natural reaction but that is just my feeling.
