Penn State ranked No. 1 party school

Penn State University has been ranked the No. 1 party school in the nation by the Princeton Review.

The Princeton Review today released its rankings, which also give Penn State the No. 1 ranking in two other categories: students pack the stadiums (intercollegiate sports popular) and lots of beer (usage reported high).

Penn State also made Top 20 rankings in some other areas: students dissatisfied with financial aid, No. 2; jock schools, No. 3; major frat and sorority scene, No. 3; best athletic facilities, No. 3; best career services, No. 6; everyone plays intramural sports, No. 6; best college newspaper, No. 6; lots of hard liquor, No. 9; students study the least, No. 11; and least politically active students, No. 17.

Penn State spokeswoman Annemarie Mountz said the survey results are not representative. "There are about 10 sites I found on Facebook urging students to vote and make Penn State the No. 1 party school, which shows that these rankings are nothing more than a popularity contest. It's become a badge of honor among students to get their school as No. 1 in these categories. The results are not connected to reality."

She said, "The students that are answering are not the ones spending their time in the library studying and getting the high grades that pump up our graduation rates."

Steelers Ben Roethlisberger Slapped with Sexual Assault Lawsuit.

Lawsuit Filed Against Ben Roethlisberger
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―

It's an out-of-the blue report that broke on the internet several hours ago. Ben Roethlisberger is facing ugly accusations in a lawsuit filed in Nevada.

Within the past hour, via the Steelers, KDKA received a response from Roethlisberger's lawyer.

"This weekend Andrea McNulty served Ben Roethlisberger with a civil complaint accusing him of sexually assaulting her in July 2008. Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone; especially Andrea McNulty. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct. If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated."

At this point, we don't know the specifics of the lawsuit or what Roethlisberger's relationship was, if any, with the woman bringing the suit.

The news of the suit broke online Monday night and the Steelers are sending out that response from Roethlisberger's lawyer.

Space: Is the final frontier all it used to be?

MOON, Pa. – On July 22, 1969, barely 48 hours after a human being first stepped onto the moon's surface, a community in Pittsburgh's western suburbs called Moon Township had a parade, as suburban communities do.

Understandably, Moon had achieved some notoriety in the weeks leading up to Apollo 11's lunar landing. And on this day, it named Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins honorary citizens and lowered an "astronaut" from a hovering helicopter into Moon Park.

And why not? This was a time of great joy. The Pittsburgh Press was editorializing about the "Moondust Glowing in America's Eyes." The downtown district's "Moonday" shut down offices and some businesses. The Foodland supermarket announced a sale that promised "out-of-this-world specials" to customers: "We've gone lunatic!"

Moon was also the home of Pittsburgh's airport, where soaring into the sky in a metal bird remained a romantic notion. These were still the days when, as TWA once put it, you could climb aboard "super-skyliners" that were "skyclubs by day, skysleepers by night."

We are 40 years older now, we Americans. And many things have changed.

Big Ben Roehtlisberger takes on Big Shaquille O'Neal in Football game this Friday

Shaq, Big Ben to go mano-a-mano in Ambridge, PA

AMBRIDGE, PA — Shaquille O’Neal has challenged Ben Roethlisberger to a game of football.

And local sports fans can see the action up-close in Ambridge.

As part of his new reality TV show, “The Shaq Show,” basketball star O’Neal will be at Ambridge Area High School’s Moe Rubenstein Stadium from July 22 to 24. The 7-foot-1 center will get a crash course in quarterbacking, working with the Pittsburgh Colts semi-pro team.

The Wednesday and Thursday practices will be closed to the public, said Randy Cosgrove, athletic director for Ambridge Area. But everyone’s invited to Friday’s 6 p.m. showdown, in which O’Neal will take turns with Pittsburgh Steelers star Roethlisberger, seeing who does a better job of running the Colts’ offense.

Call for Content: The gang at Funny Or Die are casting the net wide in the new Let's Go Viral contest, launched in conjunction with HBO Home Entertainment's Comedy Fetish campaign. Submit a video of something you find funny but that others find inappropriate for a chance to produce an original short with the likes of Will Ferrell, Judd Apatow, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy.

TBS ordered ten episodes of the new comedy series, Are We There Yet? starring Terry Crews with recurring appearances by Ice Cube. Based on the film of the same name starring Ice Cube from Revolution Studios, the television sitcom will debut on TBS in June 2010 and the network will have the option of upping the order by 90 more episodes. Crews will play Nick, the love-struck boyfriend (played in the film by Ice Cube) who tries to reunite his date with her kids over New Year's. The series is produced by Cube Vision and distributed by Debmar-Mercury. Executive producers include Joe Roth of Revolution Studios and Ice Cube and Matt Alvarez of Cube Vision in addition to show-runner Ali LeRoi.

FX approved a 30m semi-scripted comedy pilot The League about a fantasy football league dealing with issues such as marriage, friendship, parenting and love in the suburbs. The project is from executive producer/director Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm) who co-created the concept with his wife, Jackie Marcus Schaffer. Both are executive producing the pilot and Schaffer is directing. The cast includes Mark Duplass, Steve Rannazzisi, Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Katie Aselton, Jon Lajoie and Alina Foley.

CBS tapped Keegan Michael Key as a regular cast member for its comedy series Gary Unmarried, cites THR. Key will portray Clean, an old high school buddy of Gary's and former minor league baseball player whose injury prevented him from having a big baseball career.

Jon Goodman is returning to television in the sitcom pilot The Station, a single-camera comedy produced by Ben Stiller for FOX. 20th Century TV is the production company behind this project about CIA operatives in Central America on a secret mission to install a new dictator. Goodman will play a CIA veteran who mentors the lead CIA agent played by Justin Bartha.

Actress Jorja Fox is rejoining the cast of CBS' CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Sara Sidle, cites the AP. Fox left the drama two years ago and will be a part of the CSI: CI's tenth season premiere opening September 24 and other following episodes.

PENNSYLVANIA GOING TO TICKET BIG TIME!!!!


Starting today, Pennsylvania will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy.

The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime.

There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling 9 main intersections and highways.

They are the following:

• Rte. 1 north and south

• PA-220

• I-99 north and south

• I-95 north and south

• I-279 north and south

• I-276 east and west

• I-376 east and west

• I-76 east and west

• I-80 east and west

• I-79 north and south

• I-70 east and west

• PA-60

• PA-66

• US-22 & 322
 


5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Dodge Charger Police cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in western Pennsylvania , you will probably take one of these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock you.

KDKA and WDVE & CBS3 confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.


Starting on August 15th, the price of a ticket for violation of PA Law 39:3-29 (failure to show your driver's license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00. 


The fine for not having all three documents is $519.00.

Mario Lemieux Golf Outing and the Stanley Cup

The Stanley cup stole the show at Mario Lemieux’s annual celebrity golf outing this year on June 24. Presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and held once again at the luxurious resort Nemacolin Woodlands in Farmington, PA. The Stanley Cup was placed on the 18th hole as incentive and then moved into Horizon Point ballroom in Falling Rock Golf Course.

After dinner the celebrity & sport star studded audience was treated to a concert by the regions most popular band the Clarks.

The Clarks opened with some of their classics hits then moved into some songs from their new cd that was just released.

After the show the guests along with band members had their pictures taken with the Stanley Cup and some posed with Star Quarterback Ben Rostlerberger and his new Super Bowl ring.

The Mario Lemieux Foundation raises money for Cancer Research.

Corporate Comedian Mark Eddie headlined a great night of FUNdraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Frank Murgia and Megan Wolfley two members of this years “Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest” hosted an event titled “Comedy for a Cure."

The comedy lineup included show emcee Randy Bauman from the 102.5 fm WDVE radio morning show host, WDVE comic Mike Wysocki, Comic/magician Lee Terbosic also a 50 finest member and music comedian Mark Eddie.

The comedy show was held at The Rhythm House Café in Bridgeville, PA. The show was sold out and Pittsburgh party band “No bad JuJu” performed after the comedy show and filled the dance floor.

Producers from the syndicated version of "Deal or No Deal" (5 p.m. weekdays, WPGH) will be in Pittsburgh July 25 to audition prospective contestants at Ross Park Mall.

BEIJING (AP) -- Jackie Chan will play the wise kung-fu master in a Hollywood-Chinese remake of the 1984 hit "The Karate Kid" that kicked off filming in the Chinese capital at the weekend, a movie company publicist said Monday.

Chan's young disciple in "Kung Fu Kid" will be played by Jaden Smith, the son of Hollywood superstars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, China Film Group spokesman Weng Li told The Associated Press in a phone interview.

In "The Karate Kid," Pat Morita plays the iconic building handyman Mr. Miyagi who trains one of his young tenants, portrayed by Ralph Macchio, into an accomplished fighter.

The co-production between the state-run China Film Group and Columbia Pictures started shooting Saturday in Beijing, Weng said.

"Kung Fu Kid" is being directed by Harald Zwart, who also directed "One Night at McCool's" and "The Pink Panther 2," Solon So, the chief executive of Chan's company, JC Group, told the AP.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Casey Kasem has done his final countdown.

The 77-year-old DJ told "American Top 20" listeners across the country Saturday that the program would be his last.

Kasem launched his weekly countdown of the nation's most popular songs, the "American Top 40," on July 4, 1970. Ryan Seacrest took over the show in 2004, and Kasem went on to host two syndicated spinoffs, the "American Top 20" and "American Top 10."

Kasem said he "loved every minute" of his broadcasting career, but that he was leaving the show to "free up time I need to focus on myriad other projects."

"Charts are changing, stations are changing, the networks are changing, radio itself is changing, and I think, you know, the pendulum swings back and forth," his wife Jeannie Kasem told ABC News." You just have to be willing to jump ship and try something new."

Take Out/TakeAway: OK, so cute babies and adventure sports may be superpopular on YouTube, but no one said you had to combine the two. Throw in CGI special effects to make the tots do jumps and twirls, and you get an advertising campaign that perhaps is trying a little too hard to be cute and funny. What it's got to do with bottled water is anyone's guess.

‘Tonight Show’ Audience a Decade Younger

One of the big questions facing Conan O’Brien was this: How can he succeed with the older “Tonight Show” viewers? The answer: by making them younger.

In Mr. O’Brien’s first month as host, the median age of “Tonight Show” viewers has fallen by a decade — to 45 from 55, a startling shift in such a short time. This audience composition means advertisers can now address almost exclusively young viewers on “Tonight,” and NBC is already contemplating a shift in how it sells the show.

In network television, where audiences tend to age up consistently, this is an eye-popping development. But the shift is not all good news for NBC. One way Mr. O’Brien has lowered the age is by losing many older viewers.

“The Late Show With David Letterman” has already posted one week in which it drew more viewers than Mr. O’Brien, who reached the smallest audience in “Tonight” show history, just 3.3 million viewers, about two million fewer than Jay Leno’s average as host.

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Penguins stars Kris Letang and Tyler Kennedy will be at the special premiere screening of the Pens 2009 Stanley Cup DVD Monday night at the Loews Theater in the Waterfront.

Pens broadcaster and two-time Stanley Cup champion Phil Bourque, along with team president David Morehouse, will also be at the event.

The screening of the DVD, which is set to go on sale Tuesday, will start at 7 p.m.

Be on the look out for Penn-Dot trucks parked along the road or appearing behind you pacing you, it could be a Trooper driving the truck, it is called "Operation Yellow Jacket" and will be off and on all summer, each district has a truck cleaned up and ready to go!

5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Dodge Charger Police cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in western Pennsylvania, you will probably take one of these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock you. KDKA and WDVE & CBS3 confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.

Driving Ticket fine increase in PA:
Starting on August 15th, the price of a ticket for violation of PA Law 39:3-29 (failure to show your driver's license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00.

Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents in them. If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your license in it and you are stopped.... Oh well... you just spent $173. And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!!
