From Cynthia Turner's Cynopsis...

Season five of Deadliest Catch begins April 14 at 9p preceded by the two-hour Best of Season Four recap special on April 7 at 9pm.

No foolin' - Fox Reality Channel's new original series, Busted & Disgusted debuts April 1 at 9p and promises viewers a collection of the most tasteless human acts caught on surveillance video. Busted & Disgusted, from Busted Productions and clip show producer Danny Wolf, offers up 10 total episodes including one showing an angry hospital patient using a bedpan as a tool for revenge and another showing a bartender using a swizzle stick in a creative way.

Logo ordered a second helping of RuPaul's Drag Race, the first-ever reality series featuring drag queens. Season two will launch in early 2010 and is produced by World of Wonder Productions.

Action sports lifestyle network FUEL TV approved a sixth season of Drive Thru its surfing adventure series featuring a group of pro surfers in a particular location. Production begins next month on six new episodes Down Under as cast and crew head to both the East and West Coasts of Australia.

From TV Week.com...

MTV Plays Early Morning Music NYTimes
MTV is launching a block of music videos called "AMTV" that will air from 3 a.m. till 9 a.m., the New York Times reports. The block won't be rated and the network will use it to experiment with programming and different forms of advertising partnerships, the paper says.

Fox to Create Overweight Dating Show THR
Fox is working with "The Bachelor" producer Mike Fleiss to create a dating competition program that casts overweight and average-looking contestants, the Hollywood Reporter says. The series, called "More to Love," will follow a "Bachelor"-like format with a group of women competing for one man, the trade paper says. "Why don't real women—the women who watch these shows, for the most part—have a chance to find love too?" Fox president of alternative Mike Darnell tells the Reporter.

'Cupid' Makes Comeback on ABC AP
ABC is taking a second shot on "Cupid," a new version of a show that lasted only 14 episodes back in 1998-99, the Associated Press reports. The do-over is a TV rarity. "A lot of people feel like there must be some sort of stigma attached," said Kim Rozenfeld, ABC's senior VP of current programming, tells the wire service. "If you tried and didn't succeed, you shouldn't touch it again."

Italian company invents 3-minute pizza machine

An Italian company unveiled today a pizza vending machine. But unlike the American variants, which heat a frozen pizza, the "Let's Pizza" machine makes pizza from scratch, mixing and kneading the dough, spinning into a pizza shape, and adding sauce and toppings. It's then baked right there in the vending machine -- all in three minutes. The machines are planned to appear throughout Europe and the United States.

ShamWow Pitchman Beats Hooker to the Punch

The pitchman for the super absorbent ShamWow has been arrested for not having good clean fun ... unless you consider hiring a hooker who almost bites your tongue off fun.
shamwow guy arrested with hooker
shamwow guy arrested with hookerVince Shlomi was arrested in Miami Beach last month after cops say he allegedly hired a hooker, whom he took back to his hotel. According to the arrest affidavit, obtained by The Smoking Gun, Shlomi began kissing the hooker when she allegedly "bit his tongue and would not let go."

According to cops, Shlomi then punched the prostitute several times until she released his tongue. Both the prostitute and Shlomi were arrested for felony aggravated battery.

Excuse us for living, but it seems justified to punch a hooker when she bites your tongue. Apparently, prosecutors agreed, because they declined to prosecute either one.

Spoilers, Observations and speculations from tonight’s episode and other stuff below.

1.The bar that Sayid is drinking in when he meets Ilana looks an awfully lot like the bar where Jack was drinking in the episode “316″ when he gets a call on his cell phone about his grandpa Ray.

2.Check this out: in the mess hall scene, there’s a purple Geronimo Jackson poster on the wall. But that’s not all, check out the other guy working behind the lunch counter—the one with the huge Afro. Is it the same as the guy sitting down wearing bluejeans on the cover of Geronimo Jackson’s debut album “Magna Carta”?

2.Ben said that Charlotte was born in 1979, but there was that red-haired girl bouncing along in Othersville in 1974. Another lie? It seems so

3.REWRITING HISTORY -While the cliffhanger doesn't confirm it, is Ben dead now?

4. There is speculation on whether the Swan Hatch is already built, in progress or soon to be started.

TV Producers Running Out Of Types Of People To Have Dance With Each Other. Ha-ha

March252009
From The Onion
America's Finest News Source

---

LOS ANGELES—Frustrated TV producers announced Monday that they have nearly exhausted every combination of people that can be made to dance with each other in televised competition. "We've had professional dancers performing with everyone from movie stars to former NFL players to people from other reality shows, and we've had amateurs who thought they could dance but more often than not discovered otherwise," producer David Celino said. "Take any kind of person you can imagine, and I guarantee we've had them dancing on TV. We're running out of options here, and we're desperate. Help." Celino said that television producers were exploring several new variations on dance-based reality programming, including one show in which naked people are filmed having sex with each other.

Pittsburgh Turned Into a Wasteland in New Video Game

March252009
From Examiner.com
By Benjamin Gill

---

Feel like going to downtown Pittsburgh, but don’t feel like leaving your couch? Bethesda has solved your problem with the upcoming release of The Pitt DLC for Fallout 3.

Bethesda Game Studios is known for their role-playing game quality, story and character development, and their geographic and architectural accuracy in Fallout 3. This makes the March 24, 2009 release of The Pitt so exciting. Answering a mysterious radio transmission from Wernher, an escaped slave, you learn of a raider town in Pittsburgh, PA where the raider leader claims to have found a cure for mutation. Faced with Fallout style, morally gray situations, you must decide how to best deal with this evil plot.

Beyond the story surrounding The Pitt, screenshots released already show the accuracy of Pittsburgh’s skyline as seen from the Fort Pitt Bridge. No clue yet as to the depth of area you can explore, but imaginations can run wild with thoughts of fighting super mutants in the Fort Pitt Tunnels or at The Point.

For full details on the plot, as well as seeing that handy “AutoAxe” in action, you’ll have to have your copy of Fallout 3 for the Xbox 360 or Games for Windows in hand by March 24, 2009 and have your 800 MS Points ready.

How to fix what ails network TV. The Doctor is in.

March242009
From The Boston Globe
By Matthew Gilbert, Globe Staff

---

Found this in our inbox. It is from this past December 2008 but not much has changed with network ratings.

Cough. Cough. Sputter. Network TV's not feeling very healthy these days. The current ratingsFix Network TV - TalentNetworkInc for the Big Five - Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, and the CW - are down 13 percent from last year in the all-important 18-49 demographic. Most of the fall's great hopes have come down to nothing, especially on NBC. Tonight marks the end of the line for Christian Slater's failed "My Own Worst Enemy," as well as the finale of the latest volume of "Heroes," the hyped show's lowest rated arc so far.

Meanwhile, ABC's "Pushing Daisies," "Eli Stone," and "Dirty Sexy Money" are on their way out the door, casualties of writers'-strike disruptions and disinterested viewers.

The hit of the season? CBS's "The Mentalist," a competent, unremarkable procedural that isn't about to revive collective interest in network programming.
Fix Network TV - TalentNetworkInc
It has been nearly 10 years since "The Sopranos" first pushed cable TV into creative dominance. Now it's time for the networks to let viewers know that the old-school outlets still have the potential to wow us. They need to take bold, unconventional steps, such as NBC's decision last week to give Jay Leno a nightly 10 p.m. talk show. That's the only way to revive network-TV culture, before everyone dismisses it as the convalescent home for the "Law & Order" franchise.

The time has come for network TV to get the circulation going again, to regain the respect of viewers. The doctor is in, with some advice on how to get healthy.

NO MORE OVERINDULGENCE

1. Follow "Lost" (below) into the limited-run business. Start a series, and if it catches on, announce an end date. Viewers are weary from shows that run until they're limping. If finish dates were announced for "The Office," which is losing its oomph, or "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," which is losing William Petersen next month, or "Prison Break," which is losing its mind, I bet the writers and actors - and the viewers - would perk up for the remaining tenure.

Sure, it stinks when networks start serial dramas such as "Dirty Sexy Money" and then cut them down too soon. But the greater evil is the overstaying guest, the show that won't go away. Leave us wanting more, and we'll want more.

A STAY AT THE CURRENT-EVENTS SPA

2. Capitalize on the public interest. Was anybody talking about anything other than political humor on TV during the election? Are all eyes not on the incoming administration and the economy? Cable has long had Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert; give prime-time network viewers a half-hour news-related comedy - not a "Saturday Night Live" rip-off, but a tightly written nonfiction satire that will attract politically active guests. And put a substantive personality like Stewart at the helm, one who has a brain and some nerve. No, Jay Leno won't do the trick.

HAVE A WEEKLY PLAY DATE

3. Blow the Saturday-night schedule wide open. Right now, the networks fritter away this weekly block on reruns and movies. It's the equivalent of throwing up your hands and retreating. Instead, the networks should be using Saturday as a playground, a sort of TV repertory house. Put up the original UK version of "The Office." Run some of the DVD extras that found their way onto TV-on-DVD sets. Take a series such as "Freaks and Geeks" or "Arrested Development" (above) that have gained cred after cancellation and rerun 'em. A lot of viewers might get a kick out of seeing James Franco or Michael Cera before they became movie stars. Or give us a second look at a show such as "Watching Ellie," the real-time comedy with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Steve Carell that was ahead of its time. Program with an eye to surprise.

MORE SELF-REFLECTION

4. I really, really, really want a scripted TV comedy about a reality show. I know, TV shows about TV shows don't always work ("Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip"), but sometimes they do ("The Comeback," "The Larry Sanders Show," "30 Rock," below). And when they work, they are a gift to viewers who resent being treated as if we don't know what's really going on behind the scenes in entertainment. It's time for the networks to acknowledge - and celebrate, and exploit - the fact that we all know about just how fake reality shows are. Remember the "MILF Island" bit on "30 Rock" last season? It killed.

REST YOUR PITCHING ARM

5. Toy with new commercial models. Fox has been experimenting with a new approach - they're calling it "Remote-Free TV" - during the sci-fi series "Fringe." The idea is to run fewer but more expensive ads with fewer interruptions. An hour of "Fringe" (below) may contain only 10 minutes of ads and Fox promo, compared to the usual 20-plus. This tack evokes a less cluttered, more pay-cable-like atmosphere. At a time when we're becoming used to watching commercial-free TV courtesy of DVRs and cable, breaking up the momentum of a drama too many times feels irritating and disrespectful. Give us the sell before and after a show, or once or twice during.

BUILD A RESISTANCE TO BUGS

6. Clean up the screen. Why do you position those little promo "bugs" - in the bottom corner, but sometimes all over the place - during the content of an episode? I know, you want to push your other series as often and as conspicuously as possible, to get the viewers of "CSI" (below) over to "Eleventh Hour" and to force promo onto DVR users. But it's degrading. We expect to find pop-up ads on the Internet; make network TV a step up from Web surfing.

GATHER YOUR STRENGTH

7. Please. Cut back on the awards shows. You're blowing one of your signature resources. Between the Grammys, the Emmys, the Oscars, and the Golden Globes, there is more than enough public back-patting and self-love on the networks for any given year. Let the niche cable channels pick up the rest, so that the networks' major award shows will have a chance to become special again.

INCREASE THE DOSE OF FUNNY

8. Fix the comedy situation, stat. Seduce A-list comedy stars and writers, and go out on a limb by creating unstereotypical characters for them. No one needs to watch another chubby hubby and his beautiful, shrewish wife. If more sitcoms had the pizzazz and relevance of "30 Rock," or the originality of the early years of "The Office" (below) more distinctive comics might be willing to visit or - as in the case of Will Ferrell - revisit the small screen. A reputation for mediocre comedy has dogged the networks for years, while network dramas have maintained a degree of respect; that needs to change fast.

USE DIFFERENT MUSCLE GROUPS

9. Don't become a tacky, utilitarian strip mall of crime procedurals. You're already on the verge. OK, so "The Mentalist" (below) is a hit, and the "CSI" shows perform really well, and so do "Criminal Minds" and "NCIS." Bravo. Don't go any further into clone mode and deluge the market, as you did with reality TV. If scripted network TV is solely identified with one genre, it will be ever-more useless when that genre is exhausted.

America is falling in love with female comedian Maryellen Hooper... and it is easy to see why. With her unique brand of storytelling and quirky physical humor, she is one of the brightest stars in comedy. Known for providing non-stop laughter, Maryellen describes her material as "...just plain silly, fun stuff everybody can appreciate." She deftly comments on the travails of being a woman as she takes the audience on a delightfully loopy ride. Her persona has been described as "...if Lucille Ball and Dick Van Dyke had a baby girl," which Maryellen jokingly explains is "because I have red hair and trip over ottomans." A true original, Maryellen is a favorite at venues across the country. Whether you see her headlining at a Las Vegas showroom or your local comedy club, her patented style of silliness will have you falling out of your chair.

The matriarch of '90s television comedy wants to make another run at TV: Roseanne Barr is developing a sitcom concept about a family in which, yes, she'd play the mom.

"LOST" A Wedding Planned for Season 5 Finale this May 13th.

March232009
From EW.com
By Michael Ausiello, The Ausiello Files

---

An ABC insider confirms that Lost will begin filming a wedding ceremony later today that is slated to air during the show's two-hour finale on May 13. Who's getting hitched? Here are a pair of clues: Actors of Asian-American descent are being sought to play extras, and the wedding will take place on the mainland, not the island. That pretty much rules out Jack/Kate or Sawyer/Juliet. "One theory is that it's a flashback to Sun and Jin's wedding," whispers a Lost insider. "But the wild rumor is that Sun and Jin's daughter will marry Aaron in the future."

Chris Brown Cheated On Rihanna With Natasha Ellie

The 19-year-old singer, who is facing charges felony assault and making criminal threats following his alleged assault of Rihanna last month, has reportedly been having an affair the 27-year-old beauty.

Chris Brown Cheated On Rihanna With Natasha Ellie

According to an OK! Magazine insider: “Rihanna has been having problems with this girl for a long time. Rihanna even reached out to Natasha, but she denied everything.”

It has been claimed that Natasha sent the three-page text message which sparked Chris and Rihanna’s argument, during which the R&B crooner allegedly punched, bit and choked the singer until she was unconscious. Natasha, who lives in Los Angeles, and has worked as a runway model and R&B music video model for artists like R. Kelly and Akon.

“Have you heard the song ‘Emergency Room’ by Rihanna? In the lyrics she mentions finding Natasha’s number in Chris’ jeans. Rihanna didn’t write the song, but she met with the songwriter and told her how she felt and what she was going though and they came up with it,” the insider adds.

“‘Emergency Room’ includes the lyrics: “I was pickin’ up your clothes in the closet/ I was bout’ to throw your jeans in the washer/ ‘Til I saw a piece of paper sayin’ “Tasha”/ I gotta say I found this a bit shockin’/ And some reciepts here that say you went shoppin’/ You bought some Nike shoes/ But why you buyin stockings?/ Boy how could you lie to me?/ I thought you would die for me/ I’m not accepting another apology.”

A rep for the model denies she had a relationship with Chris, but confirmed that the pair met in Miami two years ago.

Lost: Who Was the Mystery Woman In the Cabin?
Yep that is right. There was a woman in the cabin with Sun, Frank and Christian. It has to be Claire, right? While we’re on the cabin, we couldn’t find a decent theory as to why Sun, the Pilot, Ben and Locke ended up in 2007, and Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid ended up in 1977.

'Lost' Recap: The New Long Con
Sawyer continues to take the lead by hiding Jack, Kate, and Hurley in plain sight, and finding a way to keep Sayid alive.

Let me begin by guessing what most of you were thinking at the very end of last night's Lost: Harry Potter. Right? Add a lightening bolt scar and a British accent to that bespectacled pasty white cherubic mug, and young Benjamin Linus would have totally been the spitting image of J.K. Rowling's boy hero. Which is a rather provocative connection to make.
