Hellboy II Winner Of Superhero Weekend
As predicted, the box-office battle between two superheroes, Hellboy and Hancock, proved to be close. But in the endUniversal 's Hellboy II: The Golden Army turned out to be the winner as it collected an estimated $35.9 million, while the second week of Hancock, starring Will Smith, wound up with $33 million. The 3-D film Journey to the Center of the Earth opened in third place with $20.6 million. But Eddie Murphy's Meet Dave, was not well met, earning just $5.3 million to place seventh. Another disappointment was Warner Bros. ' Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, which took in only $2.4 million in its second weekend of wide release. Meanwhile, in its sixth week, Kung Fu Panda crossed the $200-million mark as it sold $4.3 million worth of tickets to place eighth. Overall, the top 12 movies brought in $145 million, down 16 percent from the comparable weekend a year ago, according to box-office trackers Media by Numbers. Kilmer says, "I just started eating - everyone else was working out and I was ordering the extra Haagen-Dazs." And the 48-year-old admits he has been embarrassed by photos of him in magazines looking fat: "You've got to suffer the private photos of you. You can't go running after the paparazzi, saying, 'But it's for a movie.'"

Heath Ledger will be honoured with a posthumous Oscar nomination for his role as the Joker in Batman movie The Dark Knight, his co-star Sir Michael Caine insists. Ledger's performance has been lauded by castmates and preview audiences, and his name is already being mentioned as a contender for next year's Academy Awards - which will take place shortly after the first anniversary of his death. And Caine is sure he'll get a mention. Speaking on Friday as he unveiled his hand and footprints outside the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, the 75-year-old says, "I think he'll get a posthumous Oscar nomination at least. "I just watched him and talked to him for three days and I thought he was extraordinary." Ledger was found dead from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs at his New York apartment on 22 January. He was just 28 years old. The Dark Knight hits movie theatres in the U.S. on 18 July .

Actor Josh Brolin was arrested on Saturday after a bar brawl in Louisiana. The actor was on a break from shooting his role as George W. Bush for filmmaker Oliver Stone's forthcoming biopic W, when he allegedly got involved in a fight between revellers at a bar in Shreveport, Louisiana. According to the state's The Shreveport Times, the actor, as well as W co-star Jeffrey Wright, were arrested at 2am after they tried to impede local police officers who were splitting up the brawl. The pair received misdemeanour charges for interfering with police, according to Usweekly.com. Brolin was charged at the city jail and was forced to pay a $334 (?668) cash bond.

Christina Ricci has signed on for a multiepisode arc on TNT's drama "Saving Grace".

Jack Black will reunite with director Richard Linklater to reprise his role as substitute teacher Dewey Finn in a sequel to 2005's hit comedy School of Rock, E! News has confirmed. Mike White, who wrote the original, will pen the follow-up, School of Rock 2: America Rocks. The plot finds our headbanging hero (Black) taking a group of summer school kids cross-country to learn the history of rock 'n' roll, exploring its roots in blues, R&B, country and folk.
