Live From Hollywood...News From Inside The Hollywood Machine- When production takes its mid-winter break on the Fox series 24 beginning December 21st, Keifer Sutherland will spend his off-time in jail. The actor pleaded no contest to drunk driving charges and will spend 30 days in jail for that charge, and an additional 18 days for violating his probation stemming from a 2004 drunk driving charge. The judge also specifically said Sutherland cannot be released early nor will electronic home monitoring be an option. Sutherland must serve every day of his 48-day sentence in jail.
- VH1 will give rocker Bret Michaels another chance to find his love match as a second season of Rock of Love with Bret Michaels will premiere early next year. During the reunion show that aired last Sunday night, the 3.9 million total viewers found out his choice, Jes, decided she could not handle his rock n' roll lifestyle. Next season, twenty new ladies will vie for Bret's attention and heart.
- MTV has renewed Life of Ryan for a second season which features skateboarder and heartthrob Ryan Sheckler.
- The CW is the first to announce a pick-up of a freshman series as Gossip Girl will return next year with a full season of episodes.
- NBC Universal is adding the seven-year old, female-oriented Oxygen Media to its stable of cable entertainment networks. NBC U is purchasing Oxygen, which is available in more than 74 million homes, for $925 million (that's net of financial assets - the actual purchase price is approximately $875 million). This transaction is part of NBC U's focused strategy to acquire media properties with quick growth potential and increase the number of brands targeting upscale women. Oxygen launched in 2000 and was founded by present Chairman/CEO Geraldine Laybourne, Oprah Winfrey and television producers Marcy Carsey, Tom Werner and Caryn Mandabach.
- Style Network has a new weekly series Ultimate Style hosted by Daisy Fuentes and Jai Rodriguez which opens November 3 at 11p. The 30m show will take a look at what's happening around the world in fashion, beauty, home, travel, celebrity style and more.
- Regis Philbin will soon be back in the primetime game business, having signed to host a remake of Password for FremantleMedia NA and CBS, reports Variety. The title of the remake will be Million Dollar Password, and the network has ordered 6 episodes. The format will be just like the original - two celebrity contestants, each matched with a regular person, giving one word clues to help their partner identify the password.
