  • Ryan Seacrest is in as host of the 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be broadcast Sept. 16 from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA.
  • Another raunchy Judd Apatow comedy scored at the summer box office over the weekend as Sony’s R-rated teen romp “Superbad” outperformed expectations with an estimated $31.2 million.
  • HBO has picked up quirky musical-comedy series “Flight of the Conchords” for a second season and “Entourage” for a fifth.
  • NBC is adding former “Veronica Mars” star Kristen Bell to the cast of “Heroes.”
  • Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston will star in "Marley & Me," the Fox 2000 adaptation of John Grogan's bestselling memoir about an incorrigible Labrador retriever. Marley is the yellow lab adopted by Grogan, a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, and his wife. Their idea was to give them a taste of parenthood, but the dog proved to be a hyperactive handful. He wreaks havoc, gets kicked out of obedience school and gets even worse when the children begin to arrive, yet becomes an indispensable part of the family.
  • Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes will star in love story "The Reader" for the Weinstein Co The setting is contemporary Germany, where a man recounts the story of his erotic awakening in a covert love affair with an older woman in the wake of WWII.
